Why We Do What We Do
A Different Vibe was started by Shaseeyah Watson who was raised in the scenic Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. The culinary interest was influenced by my grand mothers. My paternal grandmother used fruits and veggies from her own garden in recipes. While on the other hand my maternal grandmother "could make any meal taste like it was made in the heavens." As a single mother, I would sell platters/ dishes on weekends to pay my children's way through Catholic School. That's when I discovered that folks were fond of my cuisine made with love and the best ingredients locally sourced. Moving forward, I returned to school and obtained her Bachelors in Business Administration, summa cum laude. After graduating, and continuing my career in HR, I purchased an old hot dog cart from my uncle. The business vision quickly outgrow that small hot dog cart. small hot dog cart. September 2019, I purchased an old RV. When the pandimic hit it was just a figment of my imagination. Many don't know this but as a child my father would teach me skills that many men wouldn't train their daughter to do. One day while sitting in her kitchen I asked my dad "did he tech her those skills because he wanted another boy?" He replied, "I wanted you to know how to do things on your own." In June of 2020 on a hot summer day I used those skills my father instilled in me and started demoing unnecessary items from the old RV. With some assistance, I was able to fabricated, manipulated metal, installed appliances which turned my old R.V to the food truck it is today. Ready to serve the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. This is only the beginning, my biggest dream is to one day have a store front. September 2019, I purchased an old RV. When the pandimic hit it was just a figment of my imagination.
